Veneto
Veneto as a region is less well known than then famous names that inhabit it. Firstly the sparkling wine Prosecco, made from the Glera grape is beyond prolific. One of the oldest expressions in the country is Soave, a dry white made from Gargenaga and Trebbiano. Lastly Valpolicella is a famous red made from the Corvina grape. It's highest expression is Amarone, where grapes are sun dried to concentrate the sugars resulting in alcohol contents of up to 18%!
